X-WR-CALDESC:Join Wilderness Volunteers for a weeklong volunteer project in
Nebraska National Forest from April 21st - 27th! We will spend the week h
elping to rebuild and restore a pollinator garden at the base of the Scott
Fire Tower. The pollinator garden was built in tiers up the side of the h
ill that the fire tower sits on. During the Bovee Fire in 2022\, all but t
he metal frame of the tower was lost. The garden and retaining wall suffer
ed from fire and water damage. The mulch of the trail was burned and the t
rail has become overgrown. This project will include replacing the old rai
lroad tie retaining wall\, replanting the garden\, clearing debris from th
e trail\, laying down erosion fabric on highly erodible portions of the tr
ail\, and mulching the trail. \n\nThis is a front country project: we will
be camping in a designated campground. Nebraska National Forest really ne
eds our help to complete this important project! We hope you'll sign up fo
r this project and give this pollinator garden and surrounding areas new l
ife! For more information\, visit the Wilderness Volunteers project page:
