Monarch Watch Family Program

People of all ages are invited to Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary on September 14 from 1 to 4 pm for Monarch Watch, a family-friendly community science program to monitor the migrating monarch butterflies.

The Monarch Watch Tagging Program was initiated in 1992 to help track the monarch butterflies to learn more about their migration to and from Mexico.

This event will have several activities to choose from including a migration challenge game, caterpillar observations, a life cycle project, and more.
Activities can take place indoors if needed in the event that weather is an issue.

If weather is acceptable, there will also be the opportunity for adults to catch and tag monarchs. Please note that the lightweight, circular tags designed by Monarch Watch were made specifically for tagging monarchs. When applied as directed, the tags do not interfere with flight or otherwise harm the butterflies.

For more information about this event, visit rowe.audubon.org/events or call (308) 468-5282.
