CE & VO: Xerces Ambassador Volunteer Program
Are you passionate about invertebrates and their future? Do you enjoy interacting with the public? Do you have experience in outreach and education? We need you! Engage all ages in invertebrate conservation while connecting with your local community.
The Xerces Ambassador Volunteer Program extends the reach of the Xerces Society in towns and cities through education and outreach. Xerces Ambassadors use a variety of skills to motivate and inspire communities to take action by protecting wildlife through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitats.
Ambassadors will use the Xerces Outreach Kit at tabling events and community centers, including, but not limited to: Community events, fairs, farmers’ markets, libraries, and schools. Using interpretive techniques, volunteers will utilize resources and activities from the kit to connect audiences to pollinators and their habitats.
Training will include a mixture of online videos and one mandatory all-day session. Applicants living in areas outside of focal cities are encouraged to apply, if they are able to attend the required in-person training (see dates and locations below). Although training will be provided, experience in education and/or interpretation is also required. We are looking for long-term, dedicated volunteers ready to connect the public to invertebrate conservation.
Training Date: Sunday, April 5th 2020; 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Training Location: The Barn at Glacier Creek Preserve, 14810 State St, Bennington, NE 68007
