Nebraska Game and Parks/Project WILD is looking for 5-6 volunteers for the annual Platte River Outdoor Discovery Program at Platte River State Park on Wednesday April 15 and Thursday April 16th. As always, Game and Parks will provide all the supplies, we just need passionate, nature-loving people to run the activities for the school days.

Where: Platte River State Park- Louisville, Nebraska
When: Wednesday April 15th, 2020 & Thursday April 16th, 2020
Times: (Approximately 8am-230pm)
What: Running an outdoor activity for 4, 5th & 6th graders
**Volunteers will need a state park permit to enter the park. You can either buy an annual pass for $30, or a daily entry permit for $6 (this can be purchased the day of the Expo)

NEEDED:
5-6 volunteers (total) 1-2 per activitiy needed on Wednesday April 15th, 2019 & April 16th, 2020 from 8am-230pm to facilitate either a CSI (critter scene investigation) station, a fish dissection station or an Animal Olympic station at the Platte River Outdoor Discovery Program.

At this station volunteers will either facilitate an animal Olympic station where students will compete in competitions such as long jump, most wing flaps, or sprints and then compare their adaptations to animals.

Or, you may be asked to facilitate a Critter scene Investigation activity where students will view 5 different animal scenes using tracks, and natural items to determine what happened at each station.

Fish Dissection station- facilitate students dissecting rainbow trout, usually 2 students per trout, talking about basic anatomy (gills, stomach, swim bladder, etc.) Then letting students explore the rest of the time.

Again Project WILD will provide all the supplies and directions for this activity. For working the Expo each volunteer will receive a t-shirt and lunch. Volunteers will have 5 different groups in a rotational schedule around 40 minutes each. Please let us know which date(s) you would be able to fill and which station you would like to facilitate.

**Please email Monica.macoubrie@nebraska.gov with your name, cell phone number and which activities and date(s) you would want to volunteer for. Also, please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
