 g the Omaha World-Herald\, Chicago Daily Herald\, and Milwaukee Journal Se
 ntinel.  Her latest book\, “Your Midwest Garden: An Owner’s Manual\,” is a
 n updated collection of readers’ favorite columns with charts and index ad
 ded for easy reference.  After growing hundreds of trees\, shrubs\, perenn
 ials\, annuals\, vines\, vegetables\, herbs and fruits on 30 acres in sout
 hwest Iowa for 36 years\, Jan now enjoys gardening on a smaller scale in t
