 \n\nDuring the fall\, DeSoto’s wetlands become a temporary home for a vari
 ety of waterfowl and shorebirds. Join us for a hike\, a workshop\, or the 
 whole day learning about shore birds\, waterfowl\, and upland game birds o
 f Iowa.  This is a free program conducted by Kelly McKay with the BioEco R
 esearch and Monitoring Center with assistance from Mark Roberts from Clint
 on County Conservation and Brian Ritter with Nahant Marsh Education Center
 . Funding for this program is provided by the Resource Enhancement and Pro
 tection-Conservation Education Program.\n\nThis program is open to all age
 s but is geared toward participants age 12 & over. There is no cost to att
 end this workshop. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Onlin
 e pre-registration will open at 10:00 a.m. on Friday\, September 24th. For

 to National Wildlife Refuge located at 1434 316th Lane\, Missouri Valley\,
  Iowa\, 51555. From Interstate 29 take Exit 75 for Missourie Valley\, Iowa
 /Blair\, Nebraska & turn west & travel approximately 8 miles out of town. 
 The refuge is located on the south side of Highway 30. Follow signs to the
  Visitor Center.\n\nBuilding Better Birders is a programming series design
 ed to improve the bird identification skills of local citizens & promote a
  greater interest in citizen science programming. Workshops are presented 
 free of charge & supported by the Resource Enhancement and Protection - Co
 nservation Education Program (REAP-CEP).
