X-WR-CALDESC:Communicating Science in the Misinformation Era \nMay 11\, 202
 2 | 12:30pm – 1:30pm (Central Time) \nThe evolution of the internet and so
cial media has allowed consumers to filter what information they receive t
o best align with their personalized interests. While this customized user
experience may seem appealing at first glance\, it has fostered the devel
opment of echo chambers. Within these echo chambers\, people’s beliefs are
reinforced regardless of whether or not those beliefs are rooted in scien
ce. Because these echo chambers limit people’s exposure to opposing ideas\
, they allow for the proliferation of misinformation to be spread online.
This talk will explore the challenges and opportunities related to communi
cating science in this misinformation era. \nPresenter: Dr. Taylor Ruth\,
Assistant Professor\, University of Nebraska – Lincoln \n\nEducation is an
essential part of conservation. Understanding how people learn and what m
otivates conservation-based behavior changes are complex subjects that spa
n across many scientific disciplines. This free virtual series dives into
the science behind educational efforts and practices by learning from expe
rts on a variety of science and educational topics. For questions about th
e series\, contact Amber Schiltz\, Wildlife Education Program Manager at a
