Volunteer in Nebraska National Forest

Sunday, April 21, 20246:30 amSaturday, April 27, 20247:30 am

Join Wilderness Volunteers for a weeklong volunteer project in Nebraska National Forest from April 21st - 27th! We will spend the week helping to rebuild and restore a pollinator garden at the base of the Scott Fire Tower. The pollinator garden was built in tiers up the side of the hill that the fire tower sits on. During the Bovee Fire in 2022, all but the metal frame of the tower was lost. The garden and retaining wall suffered from fire and water damage. The mulch of the trail was burned and the trail has become overgrown. This project will include replacing the old railroad tie retaining wall, replanting the garden, clearing debris from the trail, laying down erosion fabric on highly erodible portions of the trail, and mulching the trail.

This is a front country project: we will be camping in a designated campground. Nebraska National Forest really needs our help to complete this important project! We hope you'll sign up for this project and give this pollinator garden and surrounding areas new life!
