VO: Hitchcock Nature Center Bio Blitz

We need you! Join us on Saturday, June 12th from 9:00 a.m. to noon for a fun community science project. Participants will learn about our native plant & animal communities while contributing data to help us make informed decisions about how we manage the habitats at Hitchcock Nature Center.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on June 12th participants will be able to visit informative stations to learn about the plant & animal species that call Hitchcock Nature Center home. Staff will be on hand to help guide participants in recording data using the free iNaturalist application on their phone. Please note, participants must provide their own phone for use & be willing to download & make use of this free application to participate in data collection activities.

Stations & staff assisstance will be avaialable until noon & we request that participants arrive no later than 11:00 a.m. to visit the stations & prepare for data collection.

This event is free with paid park admission or a valid Pottawattamie Conservation Foundation membership, & no advance registration is required. Free will donations will be gratefully accepted & used to fund additional free & low cost public programming at your county parks.

This event is open to participants of all ages. This event will be held outdoors & includes pedestrian travel over uneven surfaces. Please wear appropriate footwear & dress for the weather. We also recommend participants bring sunblock, insect repellent, & water. Strollers are not permitted.

Due to COVID-19 the format of this program may be adjusted. Please check back for updates.

Participants must purchase a $5.00 per vehicle daily pass with exact change or check at the front gate paybox, or have a valid Pottawattamie Conservation Membership to enter the park. Weather permitting, please meet at the Loess Hills Lodge.
