Mike Schrad

Mike Schrad has been a Master Naturalist since July 2012. He specializes in Citizen Science and Resource Management. Mike has been inspired to lead and partake in small mammal research since his training class in that one session which outlined The Nebraska Natural Legacy Project.  One of the actions outlined in the project was to "institute a citizen-science and education initiative that draws on volunteers of all ages to assist with monitoring, research, stewardship, and education of natural habitats and wildlife."

Mike then connected with Program Partner organizations and presented a brief summary of his experience with small mammal studies. This brought about two study areas, and he has been working with Nebraska Game and Parks Commission biologists and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) on small mammal studies across several locations in Nebraska. Mike gears up each summer for surveying and leading trainings in the field.
